Community group’s vision to unlock Bishopbriggs town centre

A community group has put forward a vision for the unlocking of Bishopbriggs town centre.
BetterBriggs online group, set up by well-known community activist Donald Macdonald, has put forward a proposal which he hopes will help local restaurants when they reopen on July 15.

Hide AdThis includes the temporary pedestrianisation of part of Bishopbriggs town centre.
Mr Macdonald posted: “Covid-19 has affected many businesses in Bishopbriggs town centre, impacting on how they operate especially cafes and restaurants.
“From the 15th July they will be able to open their doors to the public.
“However, this will be under strict guidelines including a reduction in their capacity due to social distancing.

Hide Ad“To support these business comply with these guidelines and provide a service to the community it has been proposed that a temporary larger pedestrianised zone is created in Bishopbriggs town centre by reducing the number of traffic lanes from five to two.”
He added: “This plan would be a temporary measure – and if it wasn’t working it could be easily removed.”
