Clyde Valley pupils played a prominent part in a North Lanarkshire Council youth consultation event at Motherwell Civic Centre.

The ‘Youth Be Heard’ event took the format of the BBC ‘Question Time’ programme with the panel comprised senior council officials, including chief executive Gavin Whitefield, and Councillor Michael Ross. Fifth year pupil Lauren King was also a member of the panel in her capacity as the local Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament.

Fiona Lannigan, Brook Morley and Claire Megahy, members of Clyde Valley’s pupil council, joined pupil council members from other area secondary schools to grill the panel on topics of their choice. These included the cost of access to leisure facilities, crime rates and opportunities for young people leaving college.

Brook also posed a probing question about the regeneration of the former Ravenscraig site.
