THE streets of Newarthill were lined with residents and visitors for the fourth annual Brannock Gala Day.

Hundreds of people descended on the village for Saturday's festivities, with the day being opened by local boxer Johnny Morrisey.

The fun-packed event kicked off with a parade from Keir Hardie Memorial Primary School, which finished at Brannock High's park.

As well as a number of activities including a bungee run, rodeo bull, inflatable assault course, paint balling and laser quest, there was a variety of live music.

Singers Stuart Nichol and Paul McNally and the Rebel Diamonds and the Reeltime Rockers groups, from the Reeltime music studio, kept the crowds entertained throughout the day.

Of course, a highlight was the crowning of this year's gala queen Rachel McCairn from Keir Hardie Memorial PS, who brought a touch of glamour to the event with her court - flower queen Laura Hamilton, New Stevenston PS; champion Stephen Byrne, St Theresa's PS and herald Declan Clarke, St Patrick's PS.
