THOUSANDS of youngsters from all over North Lanarkshire are set to take part in the NL Kidz event at Strathclyde Park.

The project, which aims to increase awareness of personal safety issues and develop children's life skills, is led by Strathclyde Police and partner agencies.

Primary seven pupils from schools throughout the area will take part in the event over the next few weeks.

Organisers say the timing has been chosen to coincide with the children progressing into secondary education after the summer holidays.

Among the issues tackled is vandalism, fire safety, crime prevention,
home and personal safety, drug and alcohol misuse and road and railway safety.
