Art sale will help charity
A MOTHERWELL artist is preparing to sell off a collection of his paintings in aid of charity.
Patrick Smythe will display a range of work at an exhibition in Wishaw Library in aid of Sense Scotland.
The event will be held from Monday, July 26, to Wednesday, August 4 in a bid to raise funds for the organisation, which helps deaf-blind and disabled children and adults across Scotland.
Patrick was inspired into helping the charity after seeing an advert on TV.
He said: "I was watching the TV feeling sorry for myself when I saw an advert about a wee boy who was born deaf-blind.
"I was ashamed and it made me realise how lucky I was."
His prints include some well-known faces such as John Lennon, Tony and Cherie Blair, Rod Stewart, Marilyn Munroe and Billy Connolly.
Patrick, who has been painting for over 35 years, will also put up pieces depicting scenes from all over Lanarkshire including Motherwell, Bellshill, Wishaw and Hamilton.
The exhibition will be open during the library's usual hours.
Those who attend are not obliged to buy a painting but can still make a donation if they wish.
