Fun day has touch of animal magic

THE weather on Fair Monday was ideal for ducks, sadly there was none to be found at Motherwell Heritage Centre.

But that didn't stop the crowds coming out to see the other critters at the Animal Magic fun day.

There was the odd break in the weather which allowed the Rhuallan Raptors group to let their selection of birds of prey including eagles and owls to spread their wings for the crowds present.

Inside the Zoolab rangers were introducing their audience to a wide range of creatures including reptiles, rats and various creepy crawlies.

Centre manager Gillian Brophy said: "This was the first animal-themed fun day since I became manager and we were really busy.

"The weather wasn't great but we were able to hold some activities outside and when the rain got really heavy everyone just hurried inside so it wasn't too disruptive.

"There were all manner of creatures on show and hopefully the children enjoyed meeting them all."
