Group lines up to celebrate 10 years of dance

THE line dancing group at Crosshill Parish Church in Motherwell celebrate their 10th anniversary this year.

The class was set up on August 29, 2000, by churchgoer Rena McCreadie, who at the time wanted to raise funds to help repair the church roof.

Now 10 years on, the group is still going stronger than ever and aside from raising money for the church development fund, this year they are also fundraising for Erskine Hospital.

She said: "I can remember the first day of the class like it was yesterday. I actually was too scared to go on the stage and now I do not even think twice.

"Back then many of our members did not know their left foot from their right and now they are breezing their way through routines."

The group meets every Thursday in the church hall, from 1.15 to 2.45pm and their season runs from September to May.

This year, they will be holding a party to celebrate their 10 years, which will take place on October 28.
