Pupils ready to hit high note for papal visit

A GROUP of music students at Taylor High School are preparing to give the biggest performance of their lives — in front of the Pope.

The fourth year choir, accompanied by languages teacher Honor Miller, were set the task of writing a hymn for the historic visit at Glasgow's Bellahouston Park next month.

Principal teacher of music Fiona Cannon lay down the challenge and was impressed with the end result, entitled Faith.

Fourteen pupils as well as members of staff involved in the project are now working hard in rehearsals after being asked to perform by organisers of the Papal Visit, which will take place on Thursday, September 16.

As well as a live rendition, a video of the choir performing the hymn shot at Carfin Grotto will also be played on big screens on the day.
