FAMILY members of a Bellshill man who suffers from a rare blood disorder have set up a special fund to help other sufferers.

Richard Colson (22) suffers from aplastic anaemia which prevents his body making enough new blood cells and his only hope of survival is a bone marrow transplant.

His parents, in conjunction with the Anthony Nolan Trust, held a clinic at Noble Primary in an effort to see if a donor can be found.

But as well as encouraging people to come forward and boost the bone marrow register, the family have also set up fund to help meet some of the costs associated with undergoing treatment.

The family have specially decorated their car to promote the Richard Colson Severe Aplastic Anaemia Fund and are holding a fancy dress walk next month to raise awareness and money.

It will take place on Saturday, July 26, leaving the family home in Shirrel Avenue and going to Motherwell and then down to M&Ds who have provided a season pass for family of four as a raffle prize.

All welcome to take part e-mail richard.colson.s.a.afund@googlemail.com for more details.
