SIX people were rescued after a roller coaster stopped 40 feet up in the air at M&D's Theme Park.

The group – five women and a man – were lifted to safety by fire crews after being stuck on the Tornado ride at the Strathclyde Park complex.

Emergency services had rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised around 3.50pm on Friday, June 19.Fortunately the thrill-seekers, on a work day out, were unharmed.

Park bosses blamed high winds for seting off the rides safety system.
