DETECTIVES are hunting a man who threatened and robbed a taxi driver on Monday, July 26.

The suspect hailed down the white Skoda Octavia private hire car on Telford Street, just off North Road, in Bellshill around 3.15pm.

He asked the 39-year-old driver to take him to Strathclyde Park, and the vehicle pulled into a car park near Bellshill Golf Club.

He then threatened the driver, making off into the wooded area at the foot of the golf course with a two-figure sum of cash.

The suspect is described as white, 5'7" or 5'8", in his early 20s with dark facial hair, a shaven head at the sides and back and of stocky build.

He was wearing a royal blue Rangers FC cap with white 'RFC' letters on the front, a white Adidas top with royal blue stripes and dark trousers.

Information should be reported to Wishaw CID on 01698 202600 or Crimestoppers free and confidentially on 0800 555 111.
