Visit from Archbishop

VATICAN diplomat His Excellency Archbishop Faustino Sainz Munoz made his first official visit to the Diocese of Motherwell to celebrate two special landmarks.
Not only is Joseph Devine celebrating his silver jubilee as Bishop of Motherwell but it is also the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the diocese.
The Archbishop met members of the local priesthood and diocese staff, attended a children's concert at Cathedral Primary, visited Holy Cross High in Hamilton, was guest of honour at a civic reception by North and South Lanarkshire Councils.
On Saturday he was involved in a Liturgical Reception of the Nuncio followed by mass in Motherwell Cathedral and rounded of his visit on Sunday at Carfin Grotto at the mass for Diocesan Lourdes Hospitalite Day.
He was also able to make a number of private visits during his stay.
Archbishop Sainz said: "My most improtant role is to strengthen links between the Holy See and the local church."
Bishop Devine said: "The years have passed by very quickly so I must be enjoying myself."
