Explosion sound may have been caused by Second World War bomb being blown up in quarry
After posting an appeal on our facebook page to find out what it was one theory put forward is that the noise came from an unexploded Second World War bomb when it was detonated in a quarry.
A member of the public discovered the unexploded wartime anti-aircraft device at Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow yesterday and the bomb squad were called to remove it from the River Kelvin.
An area within Kelvingrove was sealed off and the device later taken to a quarry by the Explosive Ordinance Disposal team and blown up.
