Motherwell hotel folds with trail of debts

A MOTHERWELL hotel which is a popular venue for weddings has gone into administration.

Dalziel Park and Conference Centre, which is owned by Mario Rea, is now in the hands of administrators KPMG because of a failure to pay creditors.

KPMG confirmed that the venue, which includes a golf course, four conference suites, hotel and wedding facilities, will trade under their control while a buyer is sought for the company's business and assets.

They also said that due to a number of ongoing legal issues surrounding the company and the operation of the hotel, the business and assets have not yet been put up for sale, but marketing is anticipated to start in the near future.

Blair Nimmo, joint administrator and head of restructuring for KPMG in Scotland, said: "The potential buyer will acquire an established business which has a loyal clientele and strong catchment area for customers. We believe we will find a buyer for the facility once the marketing exercise is fully underway."
