Park protest over Crofthead sale
A PUBLIC protest against plans to sell off part of Crofthead Park in Uddingston will be staged in the park on Sunday, September 12.
The event at 2.30pm is being organised by the Save Crofthead Park Action Group which was formed in July to fight plans to sell off part of the park for a new medical surgery.
South Lanarkshire Council has agreed to lease part of the park to developers building a new facility to replace the existing, outdated, Lincluden medical practice in Bellshill Road.
Group member Jimmy Keenan said: "We hope Sunday's event will reflect strength of opinion among local people against this proposal. We have never heard anyone come out in favour of it."
Sunday's event will include a protest walk around the perimeter of the park and musical entertainment.
