Recycling? It stinks, say local workers
The Energen Biogas plant recycling plant in Wardpark Industrial Estate converts most of the food waste collected in North Lanarkshire Council and turns it into fuel for renewable energy. However this has unfortunate consequences for workers at neighbouring businesses.
Mark Breingan is operations director for shipping agency Searoute International, based in nearby Dunnswood House. He told the News how the smell - described as having a “sewage-like” quality, had affected him and his 14 coworkers.

It’s something that visitors notice too, it’s so bad that we tend not to hold meetings with our clients at the office, we go to them whenever possible.”
