BOTHWELL badminton player Kirsty Gilmour captured the girls' singles title in the Bank of Scotland under-15 home countries event in Glasgow.

Kirsty (14) clinched the championship with a 21-10 21-12 win over Ireland's Ruth Roddis at the National Badmintion Academy in Scotstoun.
Her victory made up for the disappointment she had suffered earlier in the girls' doubles final when she and partner Kirsty McGlynn, from Greenock, lost 19-21 21-19 21-12 to England's Sophie Sankey and Holly Smith.

And to cap a marvellous weekend for the teenager her achievement of reaching two finals earned her the Edna Gibb Award for the best performance by a Scot in the quadrangular championships.
