Brown plays down role in Motherwell revival
MODEST Craig Brown labelled himself "just a figurehead" as he was handed the Clydesdale Bank Manager of the Month award for the second time running.
Brown became the first boss since George Burley with Hearts in 2005 to do the double after Motherwell went through February unbeaten in the SPL.
Tuesday's 0-0 draw with St Mirren stretched their unbeaten run to 11 games and Brown has yet to taste league defeat with 'Well as his side host Hearts on Saturday.
However, the manager said: "I am just a figurehead here as I have a responsive group of players and an outstanding staff.
"I don't coach our keeper John Ruddy who has conceded just two goals in 10 SPL games. Stuart Kerr works with him and he is superb.
"Then there is Gordon Young with one of the best youth set-ups around. You must also give credit to our physio, John Porteous, as we have had very few injuries this season."
Brown also praised his players, saying: "Consistency of selection means a lot at this level, but you can't be consistent in your selection if the lads aren't doing the business.
"So in that regard it's great credit to the players. We keep selecting the same team, by and large, in the same shape and they're responding very well."
