Euro rivals taunt Motherwell's tactics
MOTHERWELL have been dismissed as long ball merchants by the manager of the Norwegian team they face in the Europa League on Thursday, July 29.
Aalesunds boss Kjetil Rekdal had the Fir Parkers watched when they defeated Breidablik 1-0 in Iceland last week to win the second round qualifer 2-0 on aggregate and line up a clash with the Norwegians.
Rekedal said: "My coaches who watched told me the side play a typically British style of game.
"Motherwell have two big centre-backs. Their play involves kicking a great deal of high and long balls up to the strikers. But they work very hard too. It won't be easy for us but we have a chance."
Motherwell boss Craig Brown was happy with his side's showing in Iceland and will be looking for a similar result in Norway.
He said: "We're pleased the second leg is in Motherwell and, hopefully, we'll have a good result to take back."
