Irish eyes are smiling are Craigan reaches milestone
MOTHERWELL'S Stephen Craigan celebrated his 50th international cap in style as Northern Ireland beat Slovenia 1-0 in their opening Euro 2012 qualifying match on Friday.
The Fir Park defender was named team captain for the match and manager Nigel Worthington was delighted with a backs to the wall performance which secured three points away from home.
Worthington said: "I have known Stephen for three years and what you get from him is a solid performance.
"He is always there. He is a terrific servant, a fantastic professional and great to have around the group."
Craigan is expected to be in the 'Well side for the trip to St
Johnstone and could be joined by new recruit Alan Gow.
The attacking midfielder made his name with Falkirk, but his career stalled after a move to Rangers and disappointing spells at Plymouth and Hibs.
Gow said: "I've done it before in the Premier League and I'm sure I can do it again."
