Morrison targets title after sucessful comeback
FORGEWOOD boxer Barry Morrison made short work of his comeback fight and has already set his sights on regaining the British light welterweight title.
Morrison faced Worcester veteran Billy Smith at the York Hall in London on Friday and heavy body shots from 'The Bizness' saw his opponent retire before the start of the second round.
This was the second time Morrison had beaten Smith, having outpointed him in 2008, and his first stoppage since a technical knockout over Dean Hickman in 2006.
Morrison, fighting for the first time since the death of trainer Archie McKay in May, said: "I was quite pleased as I felt fit and strong.
"He is a tough fighter but I caught him with a good body shot and he didn't want to know.
"I spoke briefly to my manager Tommy Gilmour in London and he is likely to set up an eight-rounder or maybe I'll even get right back into title contention.
"I want Lenny Daws. I am the only man to have beaten him and still feel I am the better fighter."
