Steelmen take on challenge of the army

TROOPS from the Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS) faced Motherwell Football Club's under-19 side at Dalzell Park.

The soldiers were in town as part of the Army Football Tour of Scotland and despite putting on a dazzling display, the under-19s proved too skillfull winning the game 6-0.

After the game, the troops and players headed back to Fir Park for a spot of lunch and a tour of the stadium.

Team manager Captain Bob Stuart said: "The aim of the football tour is to promote the Royal Regiment of Scotland and to further enhance its reputation.

"The lads had a really good time and I am thankful to Motherwell FC who were such great hosts."
