World challenge for top golfer Kellett

MOTHERWELL golfer Ross Kellett has been chosen to help Scotland retain a world title.

The Colville Park member is one of three players selected for the World Amateur Team Championship in Buenos Aires next month.

Two years ago in Australia, Scotland became the first team from Great Britain and Ireland to lift the title, so Kellett, James Byrne (Banchory) and Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) have much to live up to.

Kellett has fond memories of Buenos Aires where he reached the final of the Argentinean Amateur Championship last December, losing out to Frenchman Romain Wattel.

He was a member of Scotland's victorious European Amateur Team Championship last year.

The Scotland team, sponsored by Aberdeen Asset Management and TaylorMade-Adidas Golf, will travel to Brazil on October 17 to begin their preparations, with the event starting on October 28.
